Hey, isn't there another forum for comparisons on adhesive tape? ;-)

 

I like that the tubes are protected. To pull them out I used a piece of that grippy stuff you put under rugs. You can also use a rubber jar opener, or anything rubber. Or just use a rubber, available free at your local city health clinic. Is this really a big deal? This amp is phenomenal, the company is responsive and personal, and the value proposition is insane. I've been in sales & marketing my whole life and would love to have ever had a product that delivers like this.

So is this 6W+6W or 3W+3W?

Has anyone listened to the Lyr with K340's?  I really want to hear what that sounds like.  I imagine it would give them some crazy dynamical gusto, but I wonder if it might also mellow out the treble a bit.  Kevin, you mentioned that the Lyr helped the K1000 have a warmer, fuller sound didn't you?

I did.  I didn't notice the treble bothering me much either from the Lyr or the Burson 160.  I thought the K340 had amazing potential but I just couldn't get over what sounded like a coherence problem to me.  

 

The K1000 sounded best from the WA5 IMO.

in the upper midrange or lower treble area?  I hear that too.... it may be their only fault.  But my NOS pair is better in that way I think. 

I remember thinking that too.  Sadly, not an obstacle easily overcome otherwise it would be on my wishlist for sure.  I think I have enough on that list already though.  No thanks to anyone on this forum btw.

For those who may not know (and no offense if everyone does) WPC = Watts PER CHANNEL

I previously posted in this thread that the Lyr was not a good match with the K701s based on what I heard at the NY meet.  Well I took another listen at the Philly meet yesterday and this time the Lyr was fully burned in.  It is a good match after all.  Slightly warmer than the WA6, and just as dynamic I feel.  A better option given the price.

 

6W+6W sounds good, I'll be getting my HE-5LE's today.  =]

 

 

With a 2 volt source I thought the K701 was the best match out of all the headphones that I tried with the Lyr, from orthos to Ultrasones.

Skylab, have you listened to your K340 out of your Lyr?

Have you heard the Heed canamp? does it have a similar signature for the K701? On the warm and soft side of things?

I never received a Lyr review loaner. Last week I inquired about it again, and Jason informed me that it would be end of the month before one would be available to me, due to high demand for the Lyr. I then withdrew my request for a loaner. I like reviewing items like this when they are new. I had hoped to get one right when they came out, but it was not to be. At this point I don't think my reviewing the Lyr would offer the community very much, and so I am on other projects.
