From a brief descriptive I've read, I only "caught" a description of it increasing the power (and I assume that's volume) for an instrument/headphone.
And how important is it?
For example: say if I were to... purchase a few full sized headphones in the $1000s range -- how important would the need of an AMP be (from playing music with no AMP to an AMP)? What if we were to compare full sized headphones to IEMs (when you AMP them)? What difference is there between a $1,000 AMP (by general quality terms) and a $10,000 AMP?
Could you say that it's a more of a personal musical signature thing than an ultimate need for someone searching for high quality music playback?
