What music did you get for Christmas?

Thread Starter

Santa was very good to me.  I received from my wife and kids a number of CDs:

- Clapton

- Mojo by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

- Walking in Clarksdale by Page / Plant

- Mulennium by Gov't Mule

- Higdon & Tchaikovsy by Hilary Hahn

I also bought for myself:

- Elgar Complete Collection on EMI

- Oistrakh Complete Recordings on EMI

- Koln Concert by Keith Jarrett

- Live at Gdansk by David Gilmour

- Bible Belt by Diane Birch

- Little Dreamer by Beth Rowley

The last two are my annual gift to myself.  At the end of every year I try to make it a point to buy one or two CDs from artists I've never heard of. The samples on Amazon / Google of both Birch & Rowley sound promising.  (I'm a huge fan of female vocals.)

Happy listening!!!

I got the following from my family:

Mississippi John Hurt - The Complete Studio Recordings (CD)

Elliot Smith - Figure 8 (CD)

Minor Threat - The Complete Discography (CD)

Elliot Smith - Elliot Smith (Vinyl)

and purchased:

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (Vinyl)

Godspeed You Black Emperor - F#A#∞ (Vinyl)

Not a whole lot music-related, but I upgraded to a Project Debut III as an intermediary to a P3 or higher for the next couple of years while I finish out college.

My wife got me Richard Thompson's latest CD, "Dream Attic". We saw him in concert about 10 years ago at a small club, pretty good show, and its a decent CD. I got my wife Mandy Patinkin's "Kidults" CD for Christmas.

I ordered the new releases from The Young Gods for someone else to give me.

New album "Everybody Knows" & a limited live boxed set of 3 cds & 3 dvds.  Seriously wonderful eargasm material.

If you like beautifully recorded psychedelic/industrial/progressive rock, check 'em out.  Highly recommended.
