im running on flacs->onboard sound card->k701

can't hear anything different with the addition of canamp to this setup, well i think its a little bit better but i can't even describe it. sure i can now listen to it louder but feels like i wasted alot of cash for that, am i deaf or am i doing something wrong ?

Well it would be your onboard sound card that's bottlenecking.

Your rig will only sound as good as its weakest link. You need to upgrade your onboard sound card if you wish to unleash more of the k701's potential.

You're probably not getting a clean line-out signal from you computer, so the CanAmp is is just amplifying distortion introduced by the onboard amp and DAC. I would recommend that you get a USB DAC like the uDac, the source will be more accurate and you will get a proper line-out signal.

an amp's job is only amplify the signal from source, so when your source is only capable to produce bad signal, you get the idea what will happen

Yep, you are doing it wrong. Ditch the onboard sound and get a nice external DAC.
