Amp / Output Selector Switch - Anyone made one?

I'm looking for a way to switch between speaker amp and my headphone amp.

I don't want to go spending a fortune but I want to try and minimise damage to the signal.

Do you think making this up would degrade the sound quality? I was thinking of making something like this:
500

Or a complete switch box like this but I can only imagine it'd be worse:
500

I say you use a high quality switch and build a box.

What are your reasons for saying that over making a high-quality Y-splitter?
Wouldn't more cabling and componentry just be worse?

Thanks,
