Your Favourite Album of 2010

Thread Starter

I suppose there's this thread but it's been running since July... and we're finally reaching the end of the year.

For me 2010 has yielded plenty of good music with highlights including Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid, and Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty.

But if I had to pick a favourite it would have to be Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me. Her singing voice has deepened and matured nicely and she has presented three CDs of lush, beautiful music you can listen to many, many times.

So what's your favourite album of 2010?

For me it'd have to be Drink the Sea by The Glitch Mob. There's not a single song on the album that I don't enjoy every single time

Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites - Skrillex

Great album if you like 'dirty' dubstep.

It's hard for me to say.  For now I think it is Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz but I haven't listened to it in a while.  There's some other candidates like Arcade Fire - The Suburbs, Owen Pallett - Heartland, and more...

-The Suburbs by Arcade Fire

-Swim by Caribou

-This is Happening by LCD Soundsystem

+1 on Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me.

A thread on this album is here

With honorable 2nd place to Laura Marling - I Speak Because I Can

Precocious teenager grows up fast with a gritty, defiant "breakup" album.

Both talented young singer songwriters that do it their own way - not a trace of X Factor/MTV mass production.

These from a very small sample size. I've been too busy hoovering up older titles at nice price.

My top 5 is as follows -

1. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
2. LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
3. Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
4. Beach House - Teen Dream
5. Owen Pallett- Heartland
