Sennheiser hd-280 cable

I just received the Sennheiser hd-280 pro's as an x-mas present.  I've read numerous threads on how the cable pretty much sucks so I was pretty set on making another cable.  I've made one cable before for my grados but had some questions regarding how to make something like this...

Of course, these aren't mine but I am very curious what kind of min-xlr plug and jack to use.  I am planning on making this detachable, by the way.  I've never made a mini xlr's so I am very new to this field.  I am also thinking about using a Neutrik NTP3RC-B (right angle 1/8'' plug).

Any suggestions for the xlr jack and plug will be greatly appreciated  Also, if you feel that there are better plugs out there for the 1/8'', please let me know.  Please be specific as possible as I don't know much about xlr-stuff.

Thank you so much!

Your plug option seems good. Do you have any experience in building cables?
