How to burn CD's so that an old Discman can read?

Obviously a 1991 Discman doesn't have MP3 support.

OK. I have on my hands some WAV files that I'd like burnt into a CD so it can be played on the Discman. Basically how? What software do I need? I have FB2K and dBpoweramp. Do I need to convert the WAV to .cda format? Do I need special CD-R's or just cheap Verbatim can do?

Thank you very much.

I burn CDs using itune audio CD format option, instead of MP3 CD and it plays fine on my old 1997 aiwa compact disc player without mps support. I have used different brand of CD-R, usual get wahtever is on sale.

I don't have iTunes, but thanks.

Also what speed? The lower the better?

EDIT: Never mind. I just burnt them at 24x and the Discman reads it lightning-fast. And I just when I need more CD-R's, I ain't got any, the stores around me are all closed and I'll have to wait till Sunday. Oh well. Life.
