Baby oil safe in ears?

Hello,

 

I'm getting my ear impressions soon, so  I'm going to clear my ears before getting it done. I have been browsing and many websites suggest that cleaning ears by putting a few drops of baby oils in each ear to help clear out built up hard ear wax. Is that true? Has anyone tried it?

Yes, I do it consistently to prevent wax buildup.
