Humming noise.

Asus Laptop <USB> Musical Fidelity V-DAC > Woo Audio 6 > HD 650/Grado 325is

I just received my WA6 today and I get this low hum through my headphones. Regardless if the volume is all the way up or down, stays at about the same volume getting slightly louder as the volume is increased.

  • When I try different interconnect cables I still get the hum.
  • When I try different USB cables I still get it.
  • When I unplug the VDAC the hum is still there. (USB & interconnect cables still connected)
  • When I turn off the WA6 the hum fades away, naturally.
  • Tried different USB ports - still hums.
  • Tried different outlets - like herpes, it's still there.

I don't have any other equipment to cross test but I don't get any noise with my CENtrance DACport via USB.

Any help would be appreciated.

Very respectfully,

Maybe you could look at some impedance adapters but i haven't heard people complaining about the hum.

I figured out the noise is coming from three places:

  • Laptop power cord
  • Monitor 1 plugged in via DVI
  • Monitor 2 plugged in via HDMI

Now, I don't have a clue how to fix this problem. For example, when I unplug the laptop power cord from the wall and leave it plugged into the laptop the humming remains. What do I do?
