If you had to choose one amp from beginning to the present (looking back), what would you choose?

Okay, okay - one tube amp and one SS amp.  Each to support you from first mid-fi to your upper (non-Stax) reaches without too much fear of limitation.

I'm looking at the Meier Concerto maybe paired with the StageDac.  My upper reaches would probably be LCD-2.  I currently have HD 650.

Am I seriously wrong-thunk here?

Not sure about the tube amp I'd choose, but for the solid state, I'd get a Headamp GS-X.

I have almost no experience beyond my current amp but I don't see anything about it that would make me want a different one. As far as solid state...I have never listened to one so I don't know.

Not sure about a solid state amp, but I'd likely go with a Beta22 or a DynaMid.

For tubes, I'd stick with the Moth Si2A3.  It's the only amp that drives everything I have - even the K-1000 does well when connected to the speaker posts.

Don't you have to DIY a Beta22?  Or are there people here who will build one to spec for ya?

The Beta22 and the Audio g-d 'fun' really confuse me.  I'm not sure how all the DIY stuff and the weird 'modules' and stuff works with the Fun.

Guidance?

Under $500, the Dynalo will power any dynamic can fairly well. Under $1000, The Violectric V100 will power anything up to and including the LCD-2 perfectly. Over $1000, go for a Beta 22. I have not owned a Beta 22, but 99% of people here say it's the best solid-state headphone amp and you won't need anything else.
