Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones - Page 216

Ah.. so you don't use the Dac on the Decco. That means you are double pre-amping (you are using the Decco's pre-amp too), which may not be a good thing SQ-wise. Why don't you use the Dac on the Decco & compare when you have the HE 6 cables.

The DAC on the Concero is better. ESS9018 vs ESS9023. I can just use a y splitter I guess and let it pre-amp itself.

I had no idea double pre-amping reduced SQ?

Yeah, try it with a splitter. Audioquest make a good quality one.

With double preamping you are introducing one more element into the audio chain (which is not required). On paper that is not good, but your ears are the final judge, so get the rca splitter & compare. Maybe you will like the sound better with double preamping as may be more smooth etc... you will loose only the cost of the splitter.

I was already splitting it previously with my old amp which didn't have a pre-amp function. I just figured the Burson made life easier. Went back to splitting the connection.

Thanks.
