Guess I'm in the minority haha. I like the velours, buy I have to agree with SO, you kinda feel like a fozzy 'oddness' about them. Pleathers are great too. Im still rockin' the Audeze pads though  I do want to try and make an angled hifiman earpad just to see how it stacks up, but I have just about written off the hifiman pads.

Pondering between an audio-gd Master-3 or Krell FPB-300cx as my next amp. I think I'm set on getting the Master-1 preamp. Either way, I'll be using ACSS or CAST interconnects.

Anyone want to weigh in?

@ DarKen23

I find the felt-on-grill mod to be a must have with HE-6. It's described in the HE-6 thread about 3-4 weeks ago. It tones down the treble AND increases resolution and soundstage. This is really taking HE-6 a step or three up in sound quality.

If you don't want to mod the 'phone at first, then go for the Audeze micro suede pads. They make HE-6 sound both more open AND adds bass and lower mids. With the stock pads you choose between bass weight OR openness.

I have done both, and it transformed the tonality from a little too light to slightly too dark, but I haven't removed the quarter foam pieces yet, so pure bliss might be possible...
