What amps did you have in mind?  This amp looks very interesting:

I HIGHLY doubt it's under $1000 q.q that looks like a Flag Ship Headphone amp

It was listed at ~$550 and add another ~$100 for shipping. So it IS well under $1000

That's what I thought.  Always good deals there

Has anyone heard the audio gd precision 1 with the he6?

You know what we could do this autumn? Stage a Nationwide rally of HE-6 owners broken into regions. Members coming together to hear their respective cans plugged into a w-i-d-e variety of amps.

It could be held:

- Same weekend

- Within 2 weeks

- Designate our own month - National HE-6 Month.

The sharing of notes and details learned could be huge. Of course, I've not yet had my afternoon bowl of Jasmine Pearls. So, maybe clarity is still to come...

It's pretty new.  So you'll be the first in this thread.  Waiting to hear your impressions of it.

I don't know if shackleford was saying they're ordering one...

Unless you're trying to volunteer them :D

Hah! I remember you coerced me one time ;)

I'm very interested in nabbing this or the Mjolnir up in the next for months. I think the Mjolnir will end up being pretty cheap pretty soon and make for a tough decision.  I'd be really curious how this sounds, as I definitely prefer SE units over balanced. Not to mention this would look awful nice on top of my Reference 1 :D

There, I said it. I think SE is way easier to deal with over balanced.

I do too. There are plenty of competent (SE) options to choose from. Balanced is definitely not a cure-all, but there are definite benefits for balanced amps, not so much for balanced DACs, as the RCA are tapped off the XLR anyway. Plus, SE tends to cost less too :)

I try to get everything "Balanced"

Well, balancing an amplifier almost doubles the cost of the unit. So, after all the hype and owning a few balanced amplifiers, I guess I'd rather spend twice the money on a good SE amplifier.

I remember when I would do that. Then I had all these balanced headphones that no one was super interested in buying. Darn recabling can get expensive.

Is the Precision 1 meant to be used from the speaker taps or headphone jack in front?
