I have compared the stock USB cable with a higher quality Monster cable (advanced high speed) on the AP2.

The monster definitely improved overall quality (cleaner, smoother, imaging) but the improvement was certainly less than when I used USB adaptive direct into the Lavry. It makes me wonder if it is really worth to spend a lot of money on a good quality USB cable with the AP2. I plan to purchase a Cardas Clear USB sometime and make some further comparisons. I'll comment the results.

As for a USB adaptor, I think the quality of the coaxial cable is more critical with the AP than the USB cable. The AP is designed to be plugged directly to your DAC, so why don't you use it this way and avoid one expensive coaxial cable ?

I am planning to buy 5m Ultraviolet but all the comments come from peaple who own synchronus usb devise.

Anyone tested a simple adaptor USB type A to type B to avoid all usb cable ?

Anyone tested USB isolator with AP2 or AP1 ?

Shamu144: I use AP directly on DAC without COAX.

I just want to optimise the result with the best USB cable now.

I just buyed a USB Hub with independent power ... I will test that with the AP2 to see what happend.

Anyone notice when let computer play for 12-15 hrs ... I got glitch in the sound every 2 sec. I stop foobar and play again and problem gone. I don't know if it's my netbook or AP2 become desync or something like that.

I buyed today an usb hub with supply.

That's REALLY do a difference.

More dynamic, more open, more air ...

it really depends what the power source of your usb is like.

if it's a laptop, then the usb power isnt that good quality

if it's a desktop, i'd get a psu with plenty of headroom and low voltage fluctuations. check johnnyguru for measurements of the 5v rail

i found that getting a good power supply was critical. i went from an antec neo 430w to a CP-850w, which has one of the best 5v outputs

I am using Netbook gateway.

My friend said me the power (even on battery) is not very clean because laptop don't use 5 volts and must transform its power to give 5 volts for the usb.

Next step will be provide to the usb hub a clean 5 volts using a battery ... I will ask my friend to DIY me something.

I have in mind to put the hub as close I can to the audiophileo. Ideally use a simple adaptator like the post 32.

I will use 15 foots USB from netbook to the usb hub. After USB hub will give its 5 volts to the AP and the AP have buffer so the 15 foots USB before don't matter in theory.

It's interesting ...

I will going to listen more now ... lol
