Have any of you actually PAID for Amarra ?

I dont think I have paid prices like that for software since the mid-90s, and then it was because I was crazy enough to believe I needed a Borland product that badly. Still, if it improves your computer-based rig commensurate with the pricetag, I'm happy to hear it.

I have not paid for it to me its not worth the price. If you wan't to know how it sounds they have a demo version which will let you listen to if and try it out.

Thats a lot of coin for software. I have been using airfoil for the past couple of years and just upgraded to version 4.0 a couple of days ago. It performs well and the entire version is 40 dollars. While I am generally not a big fan of equalizers, it certainly enhances the sound of my MBP when streaming to my wireless desktop speakers.

I hope this helps.

I guess it was a bit of a stretch - we seem to have two distinct groups here : those who can afford high-end tube amps and big dollar DACs, and the rest of us. I suspect that the latter group is significantly larger than the former :)

I thought the trial version was really nice.  And if you only run CD quality files, the cheapest version is only like $80.00 or so.  Worth it to me.
