I didn't say they were bad, it's just that many people are actually putting hope into these headphones. The fact that they only have one testimony from some average joe, can't spell (And I'm talking 4th grade spelling), and completely copied Monster give them about a 10% chance of being somewhat mediocre....

To look at AIAIAI you'd think, "Just another fashion statement," but there has been quite a bit of praise on here for some of their products. Sometimes you'd be surprised what ends up sounding good, though I'm not suggesting FW should be judged as great just based on that one example.

I think saying that they're crap is too early now. I mean, no one even heard them before, at least try them out. It could give you a surprise. I really want to see the 60mm drivers.

BigRock, I'm not going to debate policy in this thread. Head-Fi has run - and grown - with that business model for almost ten years.

If you can suggest a better business model, please direct it to Jude. It's his call.

If Jude changes the TOS, I'll go along. But I do not have a problem with charging for commercial speech. It supports the site and helps keep opinions honest. Otherwise, it would be difficult to tell if someone is giving you a straight answer or if there's a financial motive behind it.

Finally, I take great issue with the suggestion that certain vendors are protected or given special treatment. As I've said before, I have ZERO financial interest in any company. And yes, I'd testify under oath to the same. The same goes for all the other admins and mods, save Jude. But Jude owns the place and that's not exactly a conspiracy or secret.

If they actually sounded good and people started buying a crap load of them, I can only imagine that all top audiophile brands will begin to join the bandwagon and rip-off Monster. LOL actually Monster deserves whatever they get for their bully attitude. Seriously guys, just rip off Monster. Make an copy of Monster Studios and make it out of metal, wood or Zebra like Ultrasone(not true), put some actual good drivers in 'em, then call Stevie Wonder= $WIN$$  I'm sure head-fiers won't mind =)  If you can't beat em, join em and one up them.

I totally agree that this discussion is best kept out of this thread as it has little to do with Fanny Wang. I can also see that I'm digging a little to deep into Head-fi policy, and I definitely don't want to mean to hurt any feelings.

 

Let me also take this time to retract my initial "thousands" of dollars remark as I meant to say Hundreds, so woopsie daisy on that. Although my initial statement is indeed what I meant to say.

 

All in all, I don't think I have enough respect points here yet to actually recommend something of this nature to Jude. I'm trying to start a revolution or anything.

 

Now, where can I get a pair of the FW's to audition? I'd love to compare them to the Beats!

As a side note, I wonder if the Fanny Wang Girlz wear Vera Wang perfume while they're promoting these things.

I personally dont think they look stylish at all. It truely does look like a Dre ripoff like israelD said. I do hope the quality is actully decent though & not a brand that decides to pack cheap drivers in nice headphones & sell them off for high prices. (*Cough* SkullCandy *cough*) alot of girls wearing the headphones isnt going to help them market...my personal opinion.

What I find ironic is that people are hating on the Wangs for looking like the Monsters, but they say nothing about Superlux which so blatantly copies vintage AKGs. In fact the 668b is constantly recommended here.

 

I'd say let's give the FWs a chance first before writing them off completely.

I've decided to side with Fanny Wang just because of their open "response" to Monster. The writing's gold.

 

Anyways, at least Fanny Wang even states that they're ripping off the Beats headphones on their website.

 

Offtopic, but I tried to audition the Beats Studio earlier today. I involuntarily threw them off after 10 seconds of listening. Sure I was already biased against them but those headphones were truly bad...

I don't doubt you. I'm a huge fan of budget headphones that sound good, and I'd seriously be pissed if I bought the Studios for that price. It's highway robbery.

I dunno if the Shure 240 came out before/after the Beats, but they are VERY similar themselves...

Well, that little tussle ain't gonna stop me from enjoying my Coppers. Let's hope the MX W1 does that and all the best wishes for a starting company.
