ATH-M50 upgrade: need more and more accurate bass. Less harsh highs. Mids are fine

Hey All

I currently have a pair of ATH-M50s on my head right now listening to some music. Unfortunately I feel like there could be some improvement with some aspects of the headphone. I'm willing to spend more than the ATH-M50 to find something that corrects certain aspects of it

Bass: bass is good with the ATH-M50s but could be more accurate and more presence for my tastes. I like my music more bass heavy, especially with Electronic/Rap/Hiphop music. I looked at some DJ headphones that might offer this but was unsuccessful. Should i look at some DT770s?

Mids: are good but could be just a little more warm.

Highs: they seem a little harsh for me and not as precise at the highest end at high volumes.

If you guys could recommend me some phones that might correct some of the aspects I've talked about, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks,
Jay

You could look into Denons (D2000s) or Ultrasones (Pro750s), they're somewhat similar to the M50s from what I remember but are a bit more neutral. Hopefully someone who owns both can make a more detailed comparison, though, because I'm only going off what I remember of the M50, which is not very much.

I believe Shure SRH840s have more extended bass and much better treble, but are quite neutral in comparison and definitely don't have more bass presence. It's a little hard to find something that hits harder than the M50 without sacrificing something else, especially the mids.

The Shure SRH750DJs seem like they fit your description pretty well.

D2000 and Ultrasone are harsher in the treble than the M50  IME.  I don't know, maybe look at the XB series by Sony if you want more bass.

X2 on D2000 treble being harsher than the m50, although not by a whole lot.

Shure 750DJ, Denon D1100 and Sony XB500 all have a bit more bass (or a lot more bass on XB500) and less harsh trebles and have a warm sound signature, M50 in particular I wouldn't say are very bright or harsh, maybe on the border to harsh though so you'd prefer dark sounding headphones in that case probably. 750DJs are probably best balanced of the bunch, the D1100 and XB500 are more extremely warm/smooth sounding and you have to prefer this kind is sound signature in particular to like those.

DT770 wouldn't be going in the right direction from there I think, the highs aren't any smoother on those, possible the opposite and they aren't quite warm sounding either and the mids are quite recessed.

I'd say Shure 750DJs.

I will recommend: Shure SRH 750DJ and ATH Pro700.

Thank you guys, ended up getting the srh750djs from my local store. Sacrificed a little in price but couldn't resist and couldn't wait for UPS to deliver them to me. :P

Edit: Just wanted to say they are very enjoyable to listen to.  The little bass hump makes it fun and not too over analytical, something I got bored of.
