thinking of upgrading from my rockbox'd clip, any suggestions?

hey all,

well i've been enjoying my clip for a few months now but lately the battery life has been starting to annoy me. i'm looking for something with mad battery life, and great sound quality that doesn't require an amp.

i think the J3 probably comes closest but in this case i'm not really interested in a unit of that size. i already have a HTC desire that covers my 'big touch screen device' category. is there anything with a smaller form factor that isn't gonna break the bank? saw the new hifiman 601 but it's pretty pricey for what it is.

i'm willing to be flexible so don't hold back on your suggestions! thanks.

edit: i guess i should specify, i'll be using grado sr225s and yuin pk3s, my amp is a custom-built cmoy, but i wanna leave it behind when travelling if possible. listen mainly to rock/indie but with a healthy dose of electro, jazz and pop.

I dont know how 'mad' the battery life is, but Vinnie seems pretty confident that he can rock your world:

Your wallet wont thank you, and I loathe iTunes too, but you asked for suggestions ....

Another sansa I would say

Get a fuze or another clip

if you want something different, get a zune HD, as long as you turn them OFF, they will give you like 24 hours of music and it will make your grados move without a amp
