Songs with higher bitrate...

I use a youtube converter for my music but I now see the con is that the bitrate is very low (usually 32). I'm about to get some ATH-M50's and I don't want my mp3 files to be holding them back. Does anyone know of a place where I can get songs for free but with higher bitrates? I can't get CD's because I don't have the money for that many...

Creative commons music is a legal option, though you won't find anyone really popular in the radio sense on there. There are some gems though. There's also noisetrade which has some decent artists that let you donate what you want:

I don't know where you live, but my local library lets me rent CD's for 2 weeks and they have almost everything I can think of. It doesn't cost me a dime if I return them on time.

The Live Music Archive has tons of stuff from artists that allow trading of concert recordings...
