First up I'd like to admit that yes, I once torrented fifty-five gigabytes of lossless files. And that's how I know of these collections.
Why these? Well a while ago, when I was still torrenting said files, Deutsche Grammophon released the first collection. Today I wandered carelessly into a local music store and saw a second collection of this thing, of which DG describes as "... a nice addition to the first collection".
Well, anybody here ever bought these collections? As you may or may not know, right now I've reverted to CDs (and want to revert further to cassettes, or maybe fork into DATs). So with Cmas coming up, if I ever get to sell that amp (unlikely) or when I get a large sum of refund, I'd probably get some new removable media, including some CDs.
Are these collections worth it, basically? I have to say that back then, with the whole iPod rig, some files sounded quite badly recorded or mastered (thick hiss, blurry or flat sounds in some albums). Or would you suggest any other boxset?
Thank you very much.
PS. Which particular boxset of the Ring would you suggest? Solti's London Ring has that noise-reduction thing applied, so no.
