I am getting new headphones and could really need some advice on one .

Well to start of i need headphones that are over the ear , and have a really good noise blocking both ways .

I listen to all types of music , but i would love to get a little more bass , but not so that would blow my head ^^ .

Headphones will be connected to my PC .

Currently I own Logitech's G930 headset , and i never owned a pair of quality headphones so i dont know how good are these G930s. I assume they are bad ^^ .

My budget is max 170$ .

Thank you in advance .

Does your PC have a sound card?  If so what is it?

Just remove them from your list and save your time.

Thanks. That brings me down to :

KRK KNS8400

NVX Audio XPT100

Shure HR440

Beyer Custom One Pro

Sound magic HP100

Can anyone scratch any others based on criteria of comfort, isolation, sound and portability?

Looking for super comfortable circumaural (preferably closed) headphones with nice bass for less than £150 that isn't the DT770 Pro or M-Audio Q40 (DT770s sounded..recessed(?) to me and Q40s clamp was quite bad). I have a Xonar DX sound card.

Thanks.

KRK KNS8400

NVX Audio XPT100

Senn HD-280 pro

Shure HR440

Beyer Custom One Pro

Sound magic HP100

I was leaning towards the Beyer's, but the lack of folding and having to purchase a case have me uncertain. Otherwise they sound like somethign I would like. I carry a leather laptop bag/briefcase and like to be able to tuck headphones in an outer zippered area (full size about 10*12*1" but being flexible can expand several inches if an item is not thick and wide). Sound Magic are in running but I'm not familiar with brand and not sure I want to spend 199 on someting I'm unfamiliar with. KRK sounds like they have good isolation and sound and may be a good fit. All opinions are appreciated. Looking for recommendations as well as quality and "bang for the buck" ratings on these.

I live out on the Cape and have not found a store with a good selection to try. Makes me nervous as this is a big purchase for me.

With a budget of $200 why not step up to SRH840 or UE6000?  Without active noise cancellation most headphones will sound hopeless on an airplane, if you'll fly a lot UE6000 are hard to beat.

i have been looking at headphones i want to get for myself as a preset for myself. My main issues are soundquality, comfort and portability. I also care about how the headphones look because i have a really small head. Listen to mostly trance, r &b and hiphop. Looking to spend around 150 if possible Have been mainly looking at

1. ATH m50

2. Ultrasone hfi 580

I think my ideal headphones would be the vmoda m100 but it is way out of price range. Is a lower price similar headphone?

I liked M50 more than M100.  They're under $120 again, which makes them well worth the price.  Haven't heard the ultrasones, sorry.

Second on the ue6000, they sound exceptional. Every time I go to best buy I have to listen to them

For the most part, I enjoy the (relative) neutrality, the comfort, the layering, and the decent sound stage these cans have to offer. However, I find their mids to be somewhat lacking, and I would most definitely want to see improvements to the clarity/transparency of the sound. So I am turning to the fine Head-Fi folks for some advice.

I generally listen to soft rock, pop, classical, and different ballroom dancing music. In some ways, I am looking for a supercharged version of my HD 555, but with improvements to various aspects, esp some stronger mids and better clarity. I have fallen in love with both the Sennheiser HD 700 and HD 800 (esp the HD 800) after a brief encounter, but in the forseeable future (of 6-12+ months), they remain totally out of reach. So I am looking for some suggestions on how I should go about improving my audio experiences.

1) Is there something in the $200 - $500 range that I can look at for the short term?

2) Is there something in the $500 - $1500 range that I should keep drooling over as I save up my pennies? (Never mind that they are actually being taken out of circulation here in Canucksville now...)

3) Should I just suck it up and start saving for the HD 800 once and for all?

All suggestions would be very much welcomed.

For unbeatable mids and a substantial upgrade in sound from your Senns I'd consider HE500.  Below those the improvement in sound would be too small to be worth the investment.  If you liked HD800, they'd be a good match since they both slightly emphasize the treble.  In fact, I found HD800 emphasize treble too much and have an overly airy sound ph34r.gif (but I'm probably in the minority and risk a visit from the mafia).  I heard HE500 with your amp, the match was spectacular.

Adam - the m50, and ad700 are good, as are the HD380 and PXC450 if you can get them at a good price. I wouldn't recommend the 595 because they are open and will not block noise.

Sorry i forgot to mention , currently i dont have a soundcard , but i thought i buy Asus Xonar DG or Dx model .

@ Shac: The Gemini HSR-1000 (aka Takstar Pro 80) are well within your budget.  With a little amping their bass and sub bass kicks in without pushing them as far as basshead lite territory.

The first one is either a Audio Technica ATH-AD1000 or 2000.

Hi guys. I'm new to the forums and currently only own a pair of Denon AH-D2ks modded by Lawton Audio. I'm wondering what your suggestions are for a pair of open backed cans that sound similar to this set of cans. Thanks in advance.
