I know there are other headphones that are alot better. but im stickin with the two brands cause there not as expensive as all the others. and its not because of their brand names its because I just love em both.

I don't know much about headphones but after looking at different threads in this forum i can tell you that you wont get any soundstage with the M50s but the sound quality is apparently amazing for the price (bass/mid/high).
If you want a good soundstage, i heard that you have to go for Open Cans type of headphones (The ones that leak alot).

By the way i need help please,
I'm still trying to decide what i should get between the Grados SR125i or the ATH-AD900+amp. I listen to classical mostly (Piano, Orchestra), Rock and i will watch movies with them too.
If you wanna give me other better choice of headphones, feel free. I'm looking for a Large soundstage pair. (200$ budget)
Thank you

Quote:My profile picture? It's accurate. With Beats and Skullcandy, you pay for massive advertising campaigns that make them popular, and thus allow the companies to jack up the price even more. You can get V-Moda M-80s or Ultrasone HFI-580s, and you'll have some very good sounding headphones that have some serious bass without spending much money. I gave my 12 year old son a pair of the 580s for his birthday, and he says that they definitely sound better than his friends Beats.
So if you do your research on Head-Fi, you'll find that everyone advises skipping Beats and Skullcandy headphones unless you are more interested in making a fashion statement.

Quote:Sorry. My recommendation is to get neither. I've heard Beats, and to me they sound like crap for what they cost. Haven't heard the Skullcandy, but the testimonials here on Head-Fi don't indicate them to a very good headphone for the money.

Ok. I think I have ruled out everything I was originally interested in except the Shure SRH940, but don't want to spend that much. No V6, no Aviator, no Exodus.
Its Vmoda vs Vmoda. I don't want to spend the $300 for the M100 even though they sound just like what I am after. Its the M80 vs the LP2. I am not a bass head but love controlled bass. My current set is the K81 DJs and I love them, but am wanting something new to try out. Clarity of the music is first and foremost then I need a nice punchy bass that doesn't distort the rest of the music. I feel the K81 DJs do that for me very well.
I listen to DMB, Coldplay, Mumford, Avett Bros, pearl jam, 90s rock and 90s rap.
are the LPs a better fit for me? Or are they not clean and clear enough so that I should sacrifice some of that bass and go M80?

Quote:Like I said. Even my 12 year old son found the HFI-580s to be better than Beats. Plenty of bass, but not muddy like the Beats. Better mids and better highs.
Since you like a wide range of genres, you should decide if you like bass heavy phones or more neutral phones. In other words, how much bass do you want? Also, do you want them to be portable to wear around? Do you need isolation and phones that won't disturb others? What kind of source will you hook them up to (specific mp3 player? your computer?)
