Can't say that I know Korean pop.  Comfort is a very individual thing.  All that said, the KRK KNS 8400 might work very well for him/her--and come in under budget.

I'm having a hard time thinking of what headphones to buy... I currently own V6's and I would like to either sidegrade/upgrade to a different headphone. Although I like the V6's, I think its time for something new. I don't like the sibilance and grainy sound. I may end up selling them.  My budget is under $150.

I will be using the headphone out of my desktop and mainly looking for headphones that can be used without an amp. I currently have a cheap soundcard which does improve sound a little (Newegg.com - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards). 

I mainly listen to Electronic (Synthpop & Dance, stuff like La Roux, Oh Land, Robyn), and rock music (bands like Evanescence, Flyleaf), but still listen to other genres as well. 

I don't really want something V shaped, I like mids. I would like a more natural sounding headphone with very good vocals, punchy bass that extends low, nice mids, nice highs, good soundstage. I don't want a completely open headphone, something that doesn't leak too much. Also something that's a little less bright than the V6 but not too warm. I really didn't like the HD439's, I absolutely hated the warm sound, so headphones that sound like that, I'd rather not have. If you can recommend me any others, thanks :)

It's a bit unusual for someone to find a Sony studio can to be sibilant.  That leads me to conclude that you need a can with at least somewhat recessed highs.  This in turn leads me to the Shure SRH 840, which is currently about $10 above your budget.  I would normally recommend the KRK KNS 8400 as well, but it is probably too bright for you.

It really depends on the singer for sibilance, and the way the song is mastered. The headphone is more towards the harsh side though (I'm 16 though, and not one of those kids that can just listen to my ipod on full blast, I guess my ears are a little sensitive.) My friend might be getting the KRKNS 6400 or 8400 which I'll be able to try soon. 

Hello!  I am looking to replace / upgrade from my old Audio-Technica AD700s.  I enjoyed them quite a bit, but it's time for new ones.  I'm going to do my homework here, so feel free to suggest as many appropriate pairs of headphones as there are.  

I want open headphones; leakage in or out does not bother me.  Properties that I prioritize are soundstage and neutrality.  My favourite music is of the classical variety, but I listen to a decent range of genres (some favourites are Mother Mother and Foster the People).  In addition to music, these headphones will be used for gaming (Team Fortress) and playing piano.  I do not currently own an amp or a sound card, but these may come in the future.  

My price range is not set in stone.  I am thinking $150 to $200, though if there is a deal to be had above or below that, I am willing.  I do not care if they are used or new, as long as I can actually find a seller.

I'm an ambient musician and I want a really high-quality reference headphone for drones and guitar and bass and samples of all kinds. I love a great soundstage.

Music source is my Macbook Pro laptop. Environment is my desk at home (don't care about sound leakage nor do I feel the need for a portable amp). Budget is about $750 for headphones and an amp. Comfort is desired because I often wear headphones for hours at a time.

It seems like there is a lot of agreement and love for the HD 650s. I was thinking to get these coupled with the Fiio E9. That would come in under budget, with some high-quality equipment.

Any thoughts? I am open to other suggestions if this doesn't sound right.

If you want a reference headphone I think that the HD600 would be a better choice. You may also be able to a save a bit of money and use the extra to get a better amp. You may also like the AKG Q701 which will have a massive soundstage. The two entry level amps that you should check out are the Objective 2 and the Fire Phoenix.

That is an upper end, high grade amp by Onkyo. That thing will run the hell out of those 650's. It can be had for 300 on amazon.com. There is an authorized Onkyo refurbished seller (the ONLY authorized refurb seller) called accessoriesforless.com that sells it from 350 bucks. That thing uses dual burr brown PCM1796 DACs and hopefully your laptop has optical out because that would be the best implementation.
THen you can get your HD650's easy for as low as 300 dollars refurb and 400 new. All of it within your budget.
Then ON TOP of all of that, you now have a low provfile reciever that you can hook some amazing bookshelf speakers too for your office.
Anyway I was looking at doing such a setup for my father in his home office but I thought I would relay the idea to you.

Thats a good set up, let me ask you this... I have a Spdif_IO 2pin connector slot on my mother board... how do I utlize it... like let's say I get the Onkyo if I want to output Spdif to that how would I do it...

Because that's something I would seriously like to do!
