Should I get the Hifiman He-300 or the AKG Q701s? I listen to primarily to Indie pop/rock, jazz and some soundtrack pieces.

Thanks for everyone's helpfulness, but i'm still torn between so many headphones.

I'm looking for an upgrade for my HARX900, i want a pair of headphones for gaming and music. I don't really care for bass but i want SOME impact. I like many different types of music but my main ones that i've been listening to alot lately are: Liquid DnB, Video game and movie soundtracks, Chillstep, Trance, Metal, Rock, Grunge, Industrial, Noise and Ambient.

The headphones i'm looking at are: Superlux 668B, Panasonic HTF600-S, Samson SR850, Koss PRODJ100, HARX700, ATH-AD700 (If i can find it priced in my budget.) and the Sony MDR-V6.
I'm on a $60-$70 dollar budget and i'm using the built-in sound card on my computer without an amp. I'm okay with Ebay if it's a reputable seller and i'm welcome to suggestions too.

I second PurpleAngel. The Samson SR850/Superlux 668b are great. Wide open soundstage, light and comfortable, overall relatively neutral sounding with a slight emphasis in the low end. They are one of the best bang-for-your buck headphones

I'm more inclined to recommend the AKGs.  I haven't heard either one but the HE-300's measurements look like they're all over the place.

Hi everybody,

I am planning to buy a good audiophile headphones and have finalized to AKG K702 and Senn HD 598, both being in same price range. I have heard great reviews about both both have great sound quality overall, accuracy, soundstage and are super comfy. Even though many reviewers put both in best headphones category in this price range (may be k702 a bit higher), the difference I have heard and could see in frequency responses is that AKG are brighter, crisp and thus too analytical, less intimate etc whereas HD 598 are more intimate, warm. If somebody has experienced and analyzed both, I would be really grateful to listen to your opinion.

I am not too demanding on bass. love listening to classical stuff but do throw all other types at times.

Do you have an amp because the 702's require a very strong one. If so, get the 702's. If not, get  the 598's they're great, but they do leak alot. And are these for home use?

Hmm, I don't think either of those will have enough juice to power the akg k702. I know I'm asking alot of questions that seem irrelivent, but what kind of music do you listen to.

You would probably be better served by the Q 701 over the K 702.  In any case all are good cans.

Go with the 598 if you want a full, rich sound that is more forgiving of poorly recorded music.

Select the Q 701 if you want to hear more details in your music and/or need a detachable cord with two different lengths.

Well, if you're a clan of classical I think that the audio technica ad900 fit you perfectly, and you could get a fiio e11 with it for about the same price as k701. Also, it will sound way better than an unamped k701.If you are going to get a big amp definetly the k701 but you'll have 500 dollars into headphones when I'm assuming you want to spend around 300.

I'm looking for AE headphones which have good bass and sound quality for around £100 or $150.

I'm going to be using these headphones with my phone.

I most often use my headphones to and from college on the bus so they should be good at sound cancelling and preventing leakage.

And I don't want anything too bulky or ugly.

Any suggestions?
