Astro mixamp wired or Astro mixamp wireless

I'm about to buy the mixamp. Does anyone have the wireless version? Does it have to be powered by batteries? Meaning, can I somehow connect the receiver and transmitter to power? How does the wired vs wireless mixamp compare sound quality wise?

I haven't owned the wired version, so I can't comment on its sound quality relative to the wireless... but I do have the wireless.

It does not HAVE to be powered by batteries.  The Tx unit has to be plugged in, actually (it has a wall-wart).  The Rx can be powered by batteries, or via the USB 'play and charge' cable included with the MixAmp.  There is no DC in, so you can't power it by a normal wall-wart, but any USB power adapter should work.

I've been really happy with my wireless MixAmp; the Dolby Headphone processing works great with my XBox 360 games, sound quality is great, and it has PLENTY of volume with my AD700s.  I haven't had any trouble with dropouts, nor interference (my in-home wireless network is 802.11g, not sure if folks using n would have a different experience).

I've read up on these, and wondered does it improve the sound quality too?

I mean would it be worth using it for music as well?

So, can anyone tell which exactly is the DAC model used in the MixAmp? Please.
