I mean i dont know much about the technicalities of dap, i am a newbie whose gear number and quality is a fraction of most of you,but i am rather sure those component have a price and effect, cant sell hm801 or ak100 for 50 pr even 200 bucks cant you ?

If I gather what you are saying you mean there is a reason why these items are more pricey? I say yes you have a point in that case. Not saying that an item has to be more expensive to be superior but then again I won't say that is not the case either as it goes both ways. To think that buyers of said gear are delusional and love getting ripped off is pathetic and comical at best. Without having experienced said gear and coming to such conclusions IMO invalidates the persons point of view. I'll just take it with a grain of salt and continue enjoying my gear with an open mind and open ears (time to get the oil out for the tin ears ;). Keep in mind I'm not directing my comments at you. I was thinking you were replying to a certain headfier ;).

Sure you could, if they were mass produced. Also, those DAPs that you cited happen to be flawed.

IMO, insanity is spending 2, 5, 10 times more money on objectively flawed gear with sometimes horrible firmwares, and refusing to conduct well established tests that would make one realize that what they hear doesn't always match reality.

Also, I don't think the Clip+ with Rockbox is the ultimate DAP, but it succeeds where most audiophile DAPs fail miserably (the iBasso DX100 being a notable exception, from what I can tell).

Fiio X3. Just when I planned on settling with my gear and saving up for a home setup.

Nah i am just stating my view on the insanity that seems to plague the forum where alot of people when asked what is the best player for 800 dollar budget would say clip+, i am still not exactly buying into the clip + camp or the tera player camp

The clip is a great value player. But that is it. In terms of sound quality there is so much better out there. Don't kid yourself or let yourself be fooled by comments of people who don't know what the hell they are talking about. Try it yourself and you determine for yourself if it is indeed worth it or not. There is a for sale forum here where you can recover most of your costs if your purchase doesn't work out for you. It's happened to me before and I've been quite successful in selling said gear.

 

In regards to the Tera player well obviously there must be some merit to its sound from all the good reviews. This coming from multiple owners of the DX100. So I know its not all fluff. Thing is would I really be able to live with that many compromises even if it sounded that good? That is what has me curious... Not to mention its price point...

oh trust me, i believe the sound have at least some merit considering of te nearly universal price, i just thought that the compromise is bat**** insane, and thus the player shouldn`t worth dx 100 price

They're so tiny in real life, pictures really don't do them justice in that regard. Sadly, I currently have a pair lost in the Australian postal system somewhere.

Guess they need a magnifying glass to see them ;)...
