UK Head-Fi meet 2011. Thread closed: We now have a venue and a New Thread (see below) - Page 11

Yeah, it couldn't just be done impromptu like that - it'd have to be pre-arranged, agreed and logistics sorted out on the thread in advance. Obviously no one who wouldn't want to be involved would be involved.

Guys, I'm definitely in providing it doesn't fall on 7th or 14 th May.

Was a good day last year. I have a buffalo 2 dac with custom valve output I can bring and a new panda headphone amp.

Will you bring your B22 if you still have it? smily_headphones1.gif

I've been researching/reading a lot on Electronics and DIY audio with the intention of building an M3 later in the year. I've just brought all the gear (soldering iron, MM, etc.) and I'm going to build a few basic electronics kits and a CMOY soon to get some basic experience. One day I might attempt the B22.

I read your B22 posts some time ago with interest, a very impressive build! It would be great to have a chat with you about DIY audio at the meet.

Then use cheap ones. tongue.gif Would it be bad to just have a basket of cheap ICs somewhere for general use? Obviously the cable afficionados would complain, but it might make some rigging some setups easier.

I'm bringing a Panda myself. Yours might be a little better made, though... It'd be interesting to compare.

Just registering an interest. I'll have to see about location and logistics before confirming.

I wouldn't mind coming to this if I'm available on the day, especially since I've never had a chance to listen to anything high-end, be a good chance to see what all the fuss is about/condemn me to perpetual upgraditis :D I live in hope someone like HandheldAudio has a table with universal version of JH and ACS customs available as it'd make my life a lot easier! Journey is fairly easy for me since I'm in Greater London.

As far as stuff worth sharing goes, if I could make it I'd be able to bring my S:Flo2 (source) and Yulong D100 (DAC/headphone amp) which I should have any day now. Hope I can make it!

I think that if the growing list of members are happy to bring along £1000's of pounds of equipment, then the least I can do is allow someone to photocopy my ID for security purposes.....The kind members offering to bring along prized equipment have trust in US, but you don't trust THEM not to steal your identity with a photocopied ID?....Just sayin'......

I think that it is fine to take a photocopy of ID, scribble the username on said photocopy, and hand back a giant namebadge to wear. Cant wait!!!!

OK, given the poll will end soon and the beginning of April looks like the most popular date, it would make sense to start looking for venues pronto! (A sponsor still may or may not supply a venue, but in case they don't it would be good to have one in mind).

Based on past posts RE peoples' locations, etc., North West London looks like the best location? Obviously we need somewhere that is also easily accessible via tube. Somewhere in between the M4 and M1 no further out than zone 6?

I guess We don't want too posh a part of town (nor too rough!) to keep the prices sensible.

I don't know London that well, nor what those traveling in from up North would find the most accessible route. Has anyone got any thoughts?

I went to Uxbridge on a course once, it seemed like the sort of place which might have a venue at a reasonable price.

Definitely within Zones 1-6, since anyone buying an all zones travel card (such as myself, travelling from the SE) would want the venue to be accessible via the card. On the tube route is also important since it's easily the best way to get around the city to and from the main entry hubs. I'd personally prefer something a little more towards the middle than Uxbridge (since it's about as far away as you can possibly get from me with a travel card!), but obviously it's dependant on prices/venue e.t.c.

Eager to attend but I am not too sure about my schedule. I will come with some recabled(s) HD650, RSA SR71B, Centrance DACPort, IMOD with ALO SXC and Govibe PPK if i am able to attend. Not too sure about my availablity and I will double confirm after the date and time is fixed.

If I am able to come (which I hope so) I have Burson HA160 + AT-w1000x & AD2000 & stock HD800. Working on a USB DAC !

Have you got any suggestions RE parts of town which would make a suitable venue?

I thought we agreed about having the meet in London..not in Uxbridge biggrin.gif . I understand we have to work around a tight budget but I am pretty sure we can find somewhere quite central within Zone 1-2 ( maybe around King Cross if few people come by train with equipments). What about those Travelodge, Premier Inns and Holidays Inn with conference rooms.

We should decide on the date quickly so we can check rate and availability...
