Howdy folks

Currently using a pair of AD700s and a Xonar DX. Pretty pleased with the two, but looking to upgrade (no such thing as "good enough" sound smily_headphones1.gif ). So while im fussing around ordering a new pair of headphones (AD900s), I thought, lets do the whole lot and get a new soundcard too.

My dilemma is that im not too sure what to shoot for. I hear the DX is pretty mediocore, so I gather any quality soundcard will be a improvement - but can anyone recommend anything in particular?

Main uses are gaming and music (all genres - classical, jazz, metal, rap, folk, rock, etc)

So far, three names seem to be recurring:

-Asus Xonar Essence STX

-Auzentech X-Fi Forte

-Auzentech X-Fi Bravura

Will these cards be a significant upgrade from my Xonar DX? And if so, would you recommend I buy one of these cards?

If there are even better soundcards out there which I missed, suggestions welcome - though nothing over £150.

Also, should I get an amp? Not too keen on the idea currently due to not wanting to speed too much money at once, but is it something I should consider later on with my setup? I hear the AD900s dont really benefit from an amp, but just want to be sure.

Many thanks
