Hey head-Fi I need help with my computer speakers again. I'm planning on spending a ma $300 budget 2.1 computer speakers. I don't have a receiver or DAC, I'm just looking for some good 2.1 speakers for my computer. Thanks!

Klipsch Promedia 2.1

Logitech Z-2300

I've had the Klipsch way back in my college days and they were nice.  The Logitech Z-2300 I have on my study room PC just for kicks when I don't feel like using cans.  For the money they're not bad but nothing like a dedicated system would provide.

I know this is not what you asked, but did you consider 2.0 speakers as well? Do you have any particular reason to avoid these?

I'm asking, because good 2.0 speakers will provide better sound quality than 2.1 at the same price range. You just lose a bit of bass extension and power, but for most music genres it should be ok, except some electronica and similar stuff.

^ x2 what vitor said. i went from the promedia to my A2's and the A2's are significantly better than the muddy sound i got from the promedias. A2 provides much better clarity and separation and the mid-bass is there. if you need, you can always add on a sub later on

Hello xxmastaxx. If you haven't made a decision yet I can HIGHLY recommend the Kanto "iPair5" speakers.I am listening to a pair playing an Eric Clapton live recording as I write this & I am just stunned at how good these speakers are.Trust me,you will NOT need a subwoofer unless you are one of those 1 note, thump thump bass fans! They have a marvelous midrange thanks to the Kevlar driver, highs are SILKY smooth(pun intended)thanks to the Silk Dome Tweeter & Bass that just amazes me,DEEP & TIGHT,so deep in fact I had to plug the port with a foam pad to cut it back some in my small room!Follow the previous repliers advice & spend your hard earned $$$ on a good pair of active stereo speakers, your ears will thank you.
