Ok I currently have a Logitech x-540 and am looking to upgrade.

I was looking at the Logitech z-5500 or Bose Companion 5, but I think you guys know more about audio equipment then me. :P

My budget is is about $400, but I could probably stretch it another $100.

My soundcard is an onboard 7.1 channel soundcard, so i kind of want something that will bypass my boo boo hardware with usb.

Thanks in advance.

Oh I like bass heavy music like dubstep, but I also listen to every other thinkable genre besides country. So bring on the THUNDA!

Do you actually need a 5.1?, just for listening to music a 5.1 really isn't needed , but games and movies that have 6 channel sound are better though a 5.1 system , you will need a dac aswell to bypass the built in soundcard.
