Cowon S9 compatibility/ease of use

Thread Starter

Im giving my old ipod nano to my sister, and from everything I read, the s9 sounds like the perfect player form me, but my whole family has been using itunes for so long, and its all mp3 or AAC format (mostly mp3) so I was wondering how difficult (or easy) it would be for a mediocre techy to transfer the music to the s9? I just dont want to get the s9 and find out that iv got to spend hours converting and moving files around.

EDIT: Random question about the s9, would a port amp be much help with 32ohm, 50mm driver Ultrasone HFi-780's??

Thanks

I have a J3.   MP3 is definitely compatible.  I'm not 100% sure about aac but I would say that it's also compatible.

Music transfer can be easy/hard depending on how you do it :)

You can manually transfer music via Windows Explorer, the same way you would copy files to a USB drive.  Transfer itself is easy, but it can be hard to keep track of your files this way if you don't organize your library directories.

There should also be third party player/music managers that would "sync" with Cowons.  I'm guessing mediamonkey or songbird might work although I'm not sure since I'm on a different OS.

To answer your edit question-yes a quality portable amp is going to improve the sound quality of your HFi 780s, though Cowon players generally have strong internal amps so you might the find the sound quality improves just by being connected to the S9.
