I've got the 160D and windows 7 pro. Unfortunately it doesn't work beyond 16-bit 48kHz for me. In the 6moons review he says there's a similar issue with a mac pro and that Burson are working on a driver... Besides that however, it sounds really really good - lush, holographic, smooth, fast/lively, slightly vivid, deep bass. I can finally live with the hd800s' treble (which I found a bit tiring before) - however I still use the equalizer.

Thak u for the reply PeteAllen. Just one question, do you use the equalizer on your audio player or a special software??? or like a hardware??

On my audio player (mediamonkey). I give the bass a slight boost and slightly roll off the lower treble - but this is really only because of the balance of the hd800s which isn't really to my taste. I have the hd650s but they still have xlr terminations so I can't try them out yet - I would be surprised if any equalisation would be necessary for the hd650s, and the speed & liveliness of the burson would match especially well with the laidback cosy nature of the hd650s.

peteAllen,

You probably already know this, but you can create an XLR --> 1/4" jack adapter pretty easily if you want to...

Best,

Adam

I have the HA-160D sourced by a MacMini filled with lossless files. I also have the aux output from the HA-160D going to a WooAudio 6 tube amp. So, basically, I either listen to the Burson on it's own, which is superb or I use it's DAC to feed the Woo.

Using it as a DAC gives a boost to the Woo as the signal is stronger (but clean). I find that the HA-160D powers most music fine to my Sennheiser 650s, but every so often it seems slightly underpowered. But as a DAC to the Woo, I can drive my music to any level I so chose while keeping it crystal clear. This may be because I have bad ears from years of loud music or the 650s just aren't giving me what I expect. Not sure, though I love those Sennheisers.

I also like to use this as a comparison of solid state and tube amplification. The Burson is not cold at all. It gives me clean beautiful sound. I listen to a lot of sitar based music as well as violin and classic/current rock. It doesn't let me down. Fantastic purchase.

The only time I really can tell a difference in the Burson and the Woo is after the Woo as been running for about a hour. It seems to hit peak and give a little bit of a warm creamy sound that is preferable in the late hours of the evening before bedtime :-)

Lastly, for the joke made earlier, the Woo, Burson, and MacMini look stunning enough that my lady is all about having it in the living room. People love the simplicity of design they all carry.
