sharing my mini-setup (tweaked VUUM)

I thought I'd share my setup with you HIFI-nuts.

I am living in S.Korea, Seoul at the moment and I am on my way to Macau China for next year, hopefully all going according to plan.

About  a year ago I lucked into getting a VUUM audio system/ Fatman ripoff? what ever HIFI system for about $250CDN.

I promptly decided to get a pair of Cambridge S30s bookshelves and a new dock as the old dock cannot be used for newer ipods.  The component on the old VUUM dock is extremely laden with DIGITAL noise. YUCK!

So, I use an apple dock instead with my new 64GB IPOD TOUCH and the noise issue is fixed.

Sounds is very rich!

Those blue cables are copper shielded btw! I checked !  Output of the amp is ~15W per channel.

Enjoy the mini rig! Does that amp have a headphone jack?

Indeed it has a headphone jack. Standard sized jack to be exact.

The speakers this rig came with sounded OK, but the highs were way off and at higher base levels they started getting "poppy."

I suspect the speakers were cheaply made.... So another project might be to upgrade the speakers with new higher quality ones.

Nice little rig but small bookshelf speakers with passive crossover need a more powerful amp than your, i believe it is the problem, i suggest you to try full-range speakers or a good solid state amp like Cambridge audio would be a good match.

The audio from the current setup is just fine. Old speakers were a problem before this upgrade. current works well. In fact I have seen the FATMAN series using this exact setup.

S30 + same tube amp. 30W output.  15W x 2 channels.
