How to hook this amp/dac up?

I listen to just about everything with classic rock being a large majority followed by trance/electronica/house followed by jazz and then pop/country/other. My budget is about $225-250 for the amp.

After doing some reading, I think the best price/performance ratio would be to buy one of these two. A three in one combo for under $500 that is actually decent? Sounds good to me! Preferably some input from someone who has (or used) both.

bump and question. For the Audio-gd FUN that pacific value sells, is it worth it to get their upgraded version or is it just a way for them to make some quick money? Link: http://www.pacificvalve.us/AudiogdFUN.html

If your going with the fun get the Rev A. and go direct from Audio-GD. While your at it get the Earth Hdam, well worth the money...

How do you order direct? it's a little confusing on their website.

There website has a how to order area. Basicly email them with what you want and where it is going. They will then reply back with a confirmation of what you want and the price shipped. It's a bit of an ancient way of doing business , but, the price they charge is hard to beat.

Ok got the fun and already installed the earth module, but i am kind of new to this stuff, so whats the best connection method to use. i have a S/PDIF port on my soundcard, but it cam with a TOSLink cable so it wont fit in the output on my soundcard. I was also wondering, when you use optical, does the dac of the amp automatically take over or is there something else that needs to be done to use the FUN as a dac and an amp. Any help is appreciated.

if you use the optical it would be a pass-through. You would then use your program of choice and designate the output source. for example in foobar2000 you can set the output as is in the screen:

the SPDIF for the TE7022 is the USB on the FUN. Using it with wasapi sounds pretty good.

I am using USB with ASIO4ALLv2 as the output source in foobar2000. Is that good enough or does wasapi sound better?

Im pretty sure wasapi is the "standard" nowadays and is supposed to sound better, but i honestly am not sure..  will you hear a difference between the two.. thats another story.. maybe just try them both and see what happens

It is really hard to hear the difference. I think you need some high end gear to tell a difference.

Ok thanks for the help guys, I am using the wasapi since it is bit perfect. Much easier to configure as well. To those of you that searched this topic looking for help setting up your dac, I strongly recommend this topic here to assist you:
