You is kidding no? Go get some free weights, a sandbag, or whatever heavy object you have lying around and lift until your body gives. Then eat pretzels. Lots of pretzels.

Not just regular inertia, dynamic inertia.

And I'm not even going to comment on the motion.

I'm just asking because i'm lazy and HATE gyms.  So if there's something that legitimately works better than slugging through forty reps or whatever, that would be cool.  A friend of mine has a core-building device that does this -- PVC pipe/tube with water and a lead (maybe iron) ball inside.  Simple motion almost like rowing, but it will kill your core muscles if you aren't careful, even after only a few reps.

Build a sandbag or hit up the local classifieds for used equipment. I haven't stepped foot in a gym in ages, but by the time I "max out" with my 100lb sandbag, I'd be pretty damn fit. As for reps, you'd be fine sticking to the 5-12 range (for 3-6 sets) for adequate strength gains and muscle growth. And I'll say this right now, working out can be physically/mentally demanding, so either man up or stick to basic cardio and bodyweight exercises.

If you get a shake weight, Head-fi requires a video of you using it.

Lol agreed, I don't know about some of this new stuff but I do have a Bowflex. As far as this I won't be shaking anything.

Repeat after me: THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS.

You will not get in shape unless you put in the work. Full stop.

I just finished a workout I found on the T-nation.com site. I am so pumped and fired up right now it is ridiculous. It is all explosive movements where you try to move the weight as fast as possible even if the weight is heavy and it is moving relatively slow, andit all based on upper and lower body pressing. I do have a basement full of weights and the program doesn't really work unless you have at least an olympic weight set and a bench with a rack that can double as a squat rack. You can find that stuff easily off of Craigslist or something. It has a much better return on investment than the stuff on Head-fi. This program is something else, though. Here is the link:

Overview:

Lower body

Don't waste your time with crap you see on late TV. This program will work, and fast.

Of course, a program with weights like that is not the only way to get really fit. You may not have the space nor the inclination to get some weights, although I strongly recommend you do. Making a sandbag like Kirosia mentioned is a great tool that really works and is inexpensive. Running is one of my other loves, and it is free. You don't even need shoes most of the time. I wear super thin Feelmax shoes now that it is winter.
