Sony MDR XB500 - Page 2

I may need to resurrect this as the price of these cans sky rocketed now. :D

It's trippled from what I bought mine for. Amazing what a high demand and low supply can do hehe.

Hehe, it's nice to know our xb are worth more now.

Well I recently bought Aurvana's, because I wanted to "upgrade" from the xb500, without losing too much bass but gaining detail on treble. And it was exactly like that, but not too much. I mean it sounded dark, very much like the xb500. It was also physically hurting the external part of my ears so I returned them.

Anyway, I see from your signature that you got and then sold DT770... since I am leaning towards them.. how they sounded compared to the xb500? I'd like more precise and sparkling mids and treble, less bass is ok. That or the more balanced DT880, I don't know what to choose, I'd like something more analytical, while keeping the xb500 when I want to have fun. Thanks!

Well the DT770 are certainly a lot brighter sounding headphones and are build like tanks hehe.
They have less bass yet can still kick it, but are quite hard to drive.

MDR-7506 street price is very close to your budget (my last one came at $85 shipped), or the V6 for an even tighter budget.
