M stage Fioo E7 match up or E9

HI, I have an E7 at the minute and was about to shell out for the E9 to go with it. I like the reviews of the M stage though and am thinking of opting for that instead. Problem is, I am not sure if it will connect with the E7 ? Would it be as simple as a 3.5mm-RCA or am I dreaming thinking it's that simple or should I just get the E9 ? I am listening at my mac usually but like the E7 as I can then swap it over to my laptop.  I am only running some rs-1's so not a huge struggle for power but I would like to get a good sound from them for the money. Anyone have a similar set-up ? Or just some advice.

As of right now, the E7 isn't DAC only UNLESS you have it docked to the E9. Fiio is still finishing the touches on it's E7 LOD which will then have it function as a DAC with any other amp.

Oh yes, the people who own the E9 and have owned neutral amps worth $600 have put the E9 at or ahead by most counts. For $130 AND the fact that it's the perfect combo for the E7, I honestly suggest you risk it on the E9.

Been stated that to get a significant upgrade in sound over the E9 when it comes to SS amps, you'd have to spend some SERIOUS money.

Just mentioning what's been mentioned here already.

OK well it's sounds like I don't have many options open to me, either wait for the fiio lod, sell the E7 and buy dacmagic to go with the M stage or just buy the E9. I have read a silly amount of reviews on the E9 and own or have owned E3 E5 and of course now the E7, so I do like the range but I need to know that the E9 IS going to make a big difference to my low independence Grado's ? Coz if it isn't going to make me go WOW! Then I'll be a tad gutted. My other option is going down the tube road, i.e little dot 3. Oh damn me and my morbid fascination with headphones!

In your case, I don't think the E9 is gonna magically change your Grados, nor do I think the MStage will either. They are transparent amps. In case of the E9, it's there to provide ample power to headphones. The innate sound signature will stay the same. It will just work to tighten up areas and expand soundtage. If you're looking to change how your Grados sound, I believe you'll benefit from tube amps, as they color the sounds... ymmv.

Well I am not complaining about the sound sig' from them but I just think for £90 I better get something from it, otherwise what is the point. My friend has just got a dacmagic and little dot 3 so will take the cans over to his to have a listen. I did want the E9 for it's simplicity for getting more from the cans. I'll listen to my friends rig and make my descisions from there. I do love the thought of going down the tube road as I love a warm sound (listening to various but mainly up beat music).
