ipod video 5.5 Gen & Rockbox LOD volume adjustment??

well ladies and gents, looks like I just snagged a brand new ipod video (80GB)

main reason for buying are the obvious advantages of SQ, RB, HDD upgrade, battery etc.

However, most important for me is the possibility to adjust the LOD volume which I have read can be done through RB.

I am finding my current classics LOD + Amp volume to be higher than I would like with my iems and just want to make sure if I can adjust this through RB and whether it causes any degradation in the sound quality..??

Also, how is the battery with RB and Apple lossless?  I hope I can get around 10hrs, which is what I get right now with my classic.

might consider the possibility of getting an imod or DIYmod later on..though each time I calculate the cost cant help but think how many CDs I could get and add to my library instead..

Don't think you can adjust the LOD volume. You could always get an attenuator.

i'm pretty sure I have read somewhere that you can. however, don't know if the quality of the sound is effected.

unfortunately, attenuator's a no go as it changes the SQ considerably, taking out the highs...

you can't adjust the volume from ipod if LOD is used. else, what's the point of using LOD? smily_headphones1.gif

looks like you can with rockbox..the question is whether it has any negative effect on the sound apart from the volume...

Yes you can with rockbox. For me it's usless, but there could be a need for it. For example, if you owned fiio e3 then it would be a necessity because the e3 doesn't have a volume control. So having volume control out of the lod would be ideal. But most people own amps that has a volume pot. But in rare occasions, it is needed. That's one of the reasons I love rockbox so much. It really does give you total control over your dap.
