Help me choose a headphone amp!

Hey guys!

So I recently purchased some ad700's for gaming as well as music. I have an astro mixamp that I am using for games so I think I am ok there, but I want to purchase a good headphone amp. Right now I have my computer firewire>Presonus firepod>tube poweramp>speakers. I am using the headphone jack on the presonus firepod, but I am assuming I can do a lot better than that?

What headphone amps are a good match for the ad700's for music? My price range is probably about $300 unless I need to go higher than I could save up. I think I can already use the DAC int he firepod unless you think a dedicated one would be better.

Should I go with solid state or tube? I have been playing guitar for about 8 years and I only use tubes for that so I was thinking tubes would also be better for this, but also more expensive.

I was looking at the E9 or e7/ E9 combo, but not even really sure what else is out there. Something I am definitely wondering though is if it would be possible to use my tube poweramp with the headphone (if it's SS) amp to get tone from the tube amp.

I've had the Little Dot Mk 3 that I liked so much that I moved up and purchased the Mk 4SE. I used it driving Sennheiser HD 650 and HD 800 phones... beautiful sound! Very quiet background with good dynamics... but mids to die for! I just sold my phones, so I'm about to put my Mk 4SE on Audiogon. If you are interested I might work with you at your $300 plus shipping. I'm in Georgia. Let me know. I have great feedback on Audiogon.

I really appreciate that, but honestly 300 might be kind of steep until I get paid again in about a week.
If i can scrape up some cash or you still have it then i'll let you know! thank you though!

I didn't mean to make it sound like I was going to ask $300... I just meant I would work with you on what you were setting as a ceiling. I just listed the Little Dot Mk IV SE on Audiogon for $225. I paid $434, which included the shipping from China. You can go over to Audiogon and see it... I've got 3 pictures posted. Or, I can send you pictures if you are interested. It might not last long at that price. It is a very good amp... best headphone amp I've ever had, period. The only reason I'm selling it is to get into USB computer driven music. If you want to email me, you can: skooks57@att.net.

it looks like it already sold? That was fast! haha

So I'd really like to know if I can combine the sound of my poweramp and a headphone amp. That would really help in deciding how good the headphone amp has to be.

I am thinking about:
Little dot mk

Little dot I+

E9?

what are my best options for the ad700!?
