Advise about DAC output sample rate/ bit depth

I just get a HRT music streamer II+ and in the "speakers properties \ advanced" tab there are choice of 24bit and 44.1 Khz,44.8 KHZ, 96 Khz. The setup instruction say it should put it at 24bit, 96 Khz. However most of my music now are 16 bit, 44.1 Khz. I am using winamp now. What should i config in my case ?

btw: with the new HRT i got random clipping with my headphone sometime 2-3s of pink noise (HD600, unamped, yes i know it is bad but i am on my oversea trip) is that my headphone fault or the dac is defective ?

I would set your output to match your music sample rates and bit depth.  So in your case it would seem like 16/44 would be best.

And what do you mean by going ampless?  If your using the HRT, how else would you get a signal to your 600s if not through an amp?

the problem is, there is no option for 16bit in the config windows

and there is converter rca to 3.5mm

Well then I would set it to 24 bit depth if you don't have a choice.
