to add some to my argument, i repeat: the DT880 sounded wonderful (the best i heard them, by a considerable margin) with the XP-7. maybe just a tiny bit more sibilant then usually, but nothing to say about "this is sibilant".
the XP-7 was damaged in the way back to ray, and he told me he had to replace the volume pot. maybe it was the problem, and it got fixed, before you had your listen
