Ipod LOD for my car

I have a mini to mini cable for my car mp3 receiver. I have

Sony CDXGT540UI receiver. Will changing the mini to mini to a Ipod LOD change anything? Also i use a Ipod 4th gen.

If nothing else it might be nice to not have to mess with the ipod's volume.

I have a Proclip mount that passes the line out threw the bottom. I hooked up a mini USB pocket dock so I can charge it and the mini goes to the aux input. The main upside is that I just have to plop the iPhone onto the mount and it charges and plays music without having to manually hook up a mini cable every time I use it.
