So compare to the SM64? Will do.
Will mostly likely (if possible) try to compare it to a IE800, UM3X and 4R, K3003, UE900

Btw, does the 64 need an amp to drive it to sound good as out of an iPhone it sounds strained and sounds like the earphone is "trying to hard". For the demo SM3V2, unfortunately has a channel imbalance.

Imackler is indeed correct not only did he send me the email that he received from Westone I also received a response today. Amazon itself is an authorized dealer, make sure you buy them from Amazon not fulfilled by Amazon and purchased from another seller and you are good to go.

Might help somebody to know , I got an email few months back that I only had a year warranty because I did not register my W4
Ao fit Two years, beside buying from authorized dealer , get it registered

Hope it helps somebody

If this is true...westone customer service sucks. I'd argue it with your credit card company.

I just sent it to BTG audio to fix and made it W4r
Possible a misinformed rep but did not have the time to fight it then

Hmm. I would think that they should stand by the 2 years from the date of purchase as long as it was purchased through an authorized dealer.

Thanks for the updated infos! Have never purchase from Amazone or ebay.  My W4r come directly from Westone! So I dont think having some guarantee issues!

Hey Guys, I apparently was the 1st customer to hear the 846 at a local Hifi shop called Jaben. Well, first thing that hit me was the solid punchy bass and even unburned in the mids were cleaner and clearer than a fully burned in 535.

I don't think it's fair to compare it to the W4 or UE900, etc. as it is unburned in and I can hear some suffering in clarity and distortion due to that. I would say that so far the first impressions are pretty good, looking forward to try them once more soon and make more comparisons.

Bravo!  Maybe now we'll actually start to see some reviews by people who have actually heard the 846.

Hey Guys, I have once again tried the SE846 together with the FitEar Paterre ad W4 and also a JH7 demo. And the Champion is the JH7! It is the clearest and biggest sounding with just enough bass for me though I think super bassheads would not be pleased. Next, would be the 846. It has a very thumpy bass response but in comparison to the JH7, mid range clarity and head stage loses out. However, the SE846 does beat the FitEar Paterre and W4 (obviously) in clarity. Then of course the Paterre beats the W4 but it was a closer call.

IMO, with the price of ultra high end universals, just grow some patience and you would rewarded with great seal and better sound by going custom.

Now, JH5 vs JH7.
The Jh7 is in every single way better. Better clarity, head stage, tighter bass response. Unfortunately the 10X3 couldn't properly fit into my ear due to larger ear tube/bore. But according to Jerry Harvey, the JH7 is more neutral and he likes it better. And yes, I met Jerry Harvey. (WOOHOO! Sadly, I only got a photo and forgot about his signature.)

[Edit: I was at a Headphone Fest so Jerry of Jerry Harvey, Rudi of Rudistor and the owner of FitEar came down. I think the owner of Stax also came but that I can't confirm]

Nice post here, thanks!

Lucky guy you are to test JH monitors, and meet Jerry and his crews!  I thinking go with JH5 I think the best CIEM that money can buy! Comming from W4r it will be my first CIEM!!

For now, using my W4r, after triyng many tips, I stick with the Sony hybr.(mod) tips. For me the sound is just fine, it please my ears. Just enough bass, clarity, and soundstage. All my files are in lossless format.

And yes, I will tried to be patience until  time to order my JH CIEM!!!  Of coarse, the one am looking very closely is the JH13, just fine for me!

What you have now on the program dude?

Thanks again nice post!

Hmm.... I also compared the JH by memory to UM models.

The Merlin's were pretty bass heavy, so if you are a purist stay clear. However the Merlins still have clear mids and good enough head stage. (Good perhaps even great but for bassheads!)

The Miracles just didn't want to fit in my ears so I couldn't try them.

The 3DD in comparison to the Merlin has a weird/wonky sounding mids and also a veil to the entire sound.

The Mage had the tonal balance I like (slight elevation in bass) however the lack of clarity in the midrange was a deal breaker for me.

I would say this to all. In my books, the JH7 sounded best to me (I'm getting them!) and followed by the Merlins (only if you don't mind extra bass, which I kinda mind) then the JH5, then UM Mage and lastly the 3DD which sounded just downright wrong to me. (Poor fit? Maybe.)

TL;DR
1. JH7
2.UM Merlin
3.JH5
4.UM Mage
5. UM 3DD

This list excludes the Jh10/10x3/11/13/16 and UM Miracles/Aero/Marvel.

Btw, just a small tip off! Jerry is coming out with a new flagship in October!
