Sweet!

I already have these W4s for isolation. I needed an alternate that is easier to remove and replace, for when I'm in an environment where people may try to get my attention.

Honestly its hard to say. one size bigger than normal might work. personally i would buy a trial pack of one of each size to be safe.

ive tried them, they sound ok, the thing with foam or comply tips is that mids and highs will suffer, the foam seems to absorb mids and highs and creates a veil or a warmth to them. which i hate IMO. personally i stasy away from foam tips as they never sound good to me, or at least ive yet to find one that does. and ive tried the yellow foam, compl, comply p series ect.

In fact! Have mention it!  Have used them for many years with my oldy Shure IEM. Am not an expert in using some technical language... But, I can said, I like these very much. Alternate with Shure E2c sili.(mod) tips. ... biggrin.gif

Edit:  Shure "Yellow" foam - Shure blk "Olive" foam - Comply foam - Westone foam  -

All are distribute, throws sound/freq diferently!  Yellow foam tips are not the same materiels, composition than the others! It existe a website about all these technical facts!

Foam tips need to be able to get out easy some air pression from you ear canal. Think, that, all iem throws some airpression thru your canal. If to tight, the pression have problem to get out, or get out very sloly, and you fell sound bassier, boomy!... sorry, my english is very limited here to find correct words! Hope someone can understand all my meaning about this!  Maybe am wrong about all this but IMO!

thank!

Hi guys, I went to a local hifi shop and was prepared to try out some IEMs in this price range.

-Tried the 535s and clarity was lacking for me.

-UE 900s were of quite significant improvement in clarity (compared to 535)

-The 4Rs just sounded darn great

-The IE80s were horrible! (Muddy, Veiled, Boomy Bass!)

-Ath-CKS(smth) It was very shrill and strident in the highs like as if the highs dominated everything

-Denon C400 (Thin sounding that threw me off immediately)

-Tried a bunch of Final Audio Design (will be trying again)

-Tried Earsonics (will try them again cos there was some prob)- channel imbalance i guess.

I auditioned all these earphones within a 1hr listening session using just merely my iphone 4s and just one (yes, just one song) which is not even a very good recording. Just a mere electronic track which I'm very very familiar with. Levels by Avicii (FLAC).

Well of course that short audition wasn't going to finalise my purchase but just wanted to say that the 4Rs were great and also to share my thoughts.

Am a wine drinker, so like wine:)
Remember this thing is personal and some might not like w4 but after a few rounds around the block, it does it for moi smily_headphones1.gif
Others might not like it or not like it as much
but if I was going to be stranded on a desert and can only take one IEM/ phone , it will be W4:)
I do not think that I have any other phone that long in my collections

Irregardless, I can safely say that the Westone 4s are a decent pair of earphones. Like even for those blind-buying, unless he or she really hates the tonality they can't go wrong! Though like ^ mentioned, in the audio world, it is subjected to personal preference.

last weekend, i let my uncle listen to my pair of w4s with his own music from his iphone.  i also made sure that he used my fiio e11 amp.  he sent me a text today stating that he bought a pair and a fiio e11 with an L9 interconnect.  i've been trying to get him to stop using his bose.  that's one person converted

Nice short and sweet review.  Sometimes I enjoy seeing first impressions and not so much technical analysis.  I like that you auditioned a good number of iems, and appreciate the thoughts!  Love my W4's but I'm always curious about what else is out there.
