folks can iphone 5 at max volume connected to a CmoyBB amp (with 9v battery) at max volume kill a W4 if accidently left playing music for 10mins?

guys i have a w4r on order. I am reading that the treble is improved and the mid bass hump reduced with the ety impedance adapter. Is this the one:

It says it comes with difference ohms, so wondering what the right one is?

Also what cable do you recomend as an upgrade, the Baldur MKII seems the one most cited, how would this match if i am using the impedance adapter already.

I should say i like deep extended but not overpowering, loud or too punchy bass. I like a sweet extended treble but no harshness. I prefer analytical to in-your-face.

Listening to a big mix of music at anything between 128 and 320 to flac lossless. Lots of vocal, classical, 50's rocknroll and country,

Source is walkman z through wm-port to p4 ibasso amp.

Hello, may I ask some info?

Is westone 4 compatible with ipod touch 3th gen? Do ipod have enough output power for w4?

Anyone has any input on this? A close friend is selling his W4s and he is giving me a great price on them. I will simply buy them as a backup. However I remember him telling me this happened to him couple of months ago. I listened to his W4s on Friday and they sounded same as my own W4s. I'm just worried that 10 mins of high volume degraded W4s overall life. Is that even possible? Like I said they sound just fine.

I have and immensely enjoy my W4s for several years and it never crossed my mind (ears?) that there's mid bass hump problem. You sure you aren't talking about W3s or, god forbid, something like HJE-900? I understand how somebody used to Etys or other analytyical phones may feel that W4s have somewhat subdued highs but mid bass hump? As a problem to correct with some impedance adapter? Seems like urban myth or sonic snobbery.

How is that possible the IEM breaks first before the listener ear drums :-/ ?

It's been general consensus for a while now that these have a bump in the mid-bass. Most owners admit to this, just read the thread. Either they like it or find it to be benign. Not like this is a bad thing necessarily.

Who has both w4 and um3x?? I'd like to hear your comparison. I do dig the w4 but I think I prefer um3x because  w4s high end sounds muffled to me at times. Any impression would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not getting this stuff about the resistor and the Phonak sleeves. Too unsophisticated. First, I can't find "stock sleeves", tried the Phonak site, Amazon, Google searching...I see wax guards, but I don't think this is what people have in mind. Second, I can't picture how one puts the resistor in the headphone. Third, where does one get a 10 ohm resistor to place, anyway.

I actually enjoy the W4, haven't had complaints with the sound (have the W3 but not ther W3x, W4 much better sounding IMO, better midrange, more open/clear, less congested sounding)

Thanks for any information.

The resistor is at the connection of the headphone to the source/amp, not inside the IEM.
