Howdy.
I'm looking to improve how I use these phones, and this will be my first foray into amping them, so would really appreciate some advice.
The main use is electronic music production (techno and ambient mostly) and the interface is of the Metric Halo kind.
My soldering skills don't suck, so I am tempted to get the Hifimediy T1 ALPS 2*80W@8ohm amplifier. Obviously I would have to recable to get balanced, but that's something I don't mind doing. DIY also means I can add crossfeed so I can put off getting monitors for a while.
I don't really know if that's going to be overkill, or if the sonic flavour of the amp will work with these phones. Eventually I'd like to swap them for something a bit flatter like the Sennheiser HD650, which apparently sound pretty good with that amp.
