Soen - Cognitive

That is the only album I will put in this thread. It's a truly amazing album from start to finish, and is recent which is great.

Soen is a band created in 2005 I believe with the ex-drummer from Opeth Martin Lopez and bass god Steve DiGiorgio and an awesome singer and guitar player.

If you like bands like Opeth and Tool you should check it out you will not be disappointed.

My favorite 2 Prog albums of their era(early 80's)

Both are prog yet not simultaneously IMO.

Arty(sorry) with humor(occasionally) too:

Marilyn Manson's Mechanical Animals the only relatively filler track I feel is Fundamentally Loathsome.

This album is great if you are fans of David Bowies Scary Monsters era music.
