Burson 160D for Sennheiser 650 and Denon D5000

Hi. I just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with a Burson 160D with both the HD650 and Denon D5000?

I just started dabbling into the world of headphones. I'm currently running them off a Asus Xonar Essence STX (computer audio card) for the last couple of months or so, but do I remember how my speakers came alive using better amplification. I do have a full home audio setup that has been in storage for the last year due to space issue (moved into condo downtown).

The HD650 and D5000 both have quite different sounds, but I do like them both for different types of music, so I'd like to keep them both. Although I'm fairly happy with the current setup switching between headphones, I was wondering if the Burson unit would make them much better?

Searching through the forums, I've already have been caught up with the upgrade itch although I've been dabbling in this for only a few months. I do plan on eventually upgrading to maybe a pair of HD800 and possibly the Hifiman HE6 over the next year, so I'd like this amp to be able to run some of the more difficult high end cans if possible as well. I'm not sure if a single unit can handle both dynamic and planars together well.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'll hopefully be able to post up some impressions of the 160D with the Sennheiser HD600 tomorrow night. (Provided fedex comes through).

From what ive heard the 160 was a great success with all things Sennheiser, but ill let you know my thoughts on the 160D.

The HA-160 works like a charm, i love how my 650's sound with it! Also, if you look at my sig i also have the ATH-W1000X...i can say they need a good amp to sound good, and i found it.

I look forward for the impressions on the 160D.

Cheers.

Got my HD160D today.

It is hooked up to a Brickwall Audio power filter and to my mac pro via Cardas Light USB through my Cardas cabled HD600.

The sound is... Wow.

I am listening to a lossless recording of Phantom of the Opera right now and I am just in awe. The combination of clarity, impact, and texture is breathtaking.

I have listened to some Diana Krall (So Nice off of Quiet Nights), R Kelly (Feeling you in Stereo - Unfinished Business CD), Holly Cole (Waters of March), Slightly Stoopid (If this World were mine - Acoustic Roots CD). It performs excellently with everything I throw at it.

I will post up more specifics at a later date as Burson says the sound will continue to improve over the next 100 or so hours.

But I am truly pleased with the performance thus far; I have never heard the HD600 sing like this.

I did try the d2k on the HA-160....well? the d2k isn't nearly worth the amount they ask for it, more like 1/10th of it. I didn't think you could get such a bloated bass and recessed mids, but yeah they did it \o/

the mids are so recessed that I felt half-deaf...surely you can get much better phones to compliment the Burson IME.
