Getting drunk... serious question for extremely serious people (title change) - Page 4

I'm not a medical doctor, but I imagine that a fast metabolism would simply make you drunk faster.

9pintube, you should try a beer some time. My guess is that you were exposed to the typical light American beer. I don't like the smell of it, either. But the more esoteric brews sometimes smell wonderful. I'm a big fan of West Coast style IPAs. Those are highly hopped, and since hops are flowers, that's what some of them smell like. Others smell like roasted barley, and there are many varieties of fruit beer and other specialty brews. If there's a market that stocks a variety of micros, pick up one of the large bottles. Take it home, pour about 10 oz. into a glass and enjoy sipping it over awhile. You won't get drunk and it is a very pleasant way to enjoy listening to music.

Now, if you want to get drunk for the first time, come to the next CanJam. We'll take care of that. biggrin.gif

Not sure, but alcohol metabolism is highly dependent on alcohol dehydrogenase and only a certain (small amount) cab be done per hour.

Even at your peak elimination capacity, it is exceeding rare someone could pull this off. Not to mention alcohol quickly suppresses heart rate, blood pressure and respiration... so you never actually eliminate as best you could... because it has effects on your body.

so high metabolism might play into it for better or for worth (most youths do have a "high metabolism") but this would be a crazy elimination rate...

OP, are you a descendant of Rasputin?

Actually, you'll probably end up just asphyxiating yourself from vomit if you keep trying to drink that much.

I remember when I went to a music festival in Kansas, it was around 8:30pm the night before and we went to a grocery store to stock up on food and what not and when my friends went to buy some beer , they wouldn't let em buy any.  Some weird local law there.  Come to find out talking to the locals that in that town they sold two different kinds of beer.  The stuff they sell at the grocery stores and gas stations had a lowered alcohol percentage compared to what one could buy at the liquor store.  They both would be bud light or whatever, but the stuff you bought at the grocery store was 2.5% or something vs. the usual 5% or whatever bud light is.

So, either the op is drinking some reduced abv beer, is a troll, or is some freak of nature.  Pick your poison.

I don't know what abv beer is. I don't troll (pretty dumb to me and I'm not an attention whore last time I checked) so I'll take freak of nature for 500 haha!

Reduced Alcohol By Volume. We don't have those laws in Wisconsin :D

I would imagine reduced alcohol levels in the beer that Heardatbeat is drinking.  I mean no offense, but with the original statements and blah blah blah, I just don't see it possible.  However he did mention making a video.

So here is a thought.  Set up a camera, with you, a clock, the said alcohol, and guitar hero try to recreate within reason the night you gave as an example.  Record the whole thing, post it all up on youtube (probably have to cut it up, I don't know how long youtube videos can be) and prove to the people in this thread that you have a really high tolerance.

I'm hardly doubting you, I've seen some wild people, do some wild things, and a few seconds later with police come around the wild people look sober as designated drivers.  Quantities just don't seem to add up in my book. It could be, and just to give that horse one more hit with a stick, you are having a low uptake of alcohol in your system due to your constant eating.  Maybe fast for a day or two and then go drinking, see if that does any change.

I can't say I'm in that "stamina" range with alcohol.  I primarily stick to beer (most in the 7% area) so after 3 I start feeling some relaxation, 5 is the limit if I'm out in public since I don't want to take chances of pictures popping up on the web, and if I'm at home and in a jam session I can easily do a 12 pack.  Standing after that is another thing since really tired legs, no food, and motor skills do not apparently mix well.

Also in your extreme situation of the officer and the breathalyzer, did he tell you what exactly you blew?

As it happens, I have personally seen a guy so blasted he fell out of the car when the cop opened it up so he could do a walk and submit to a BAC.  Upon my friend getting on his feet, the officer asked him if he now felt he was truly drunk and should just fess up, to which my friend, all 5'7" and 165 lbs of him, royally replied: "No, Officer, sir, I am NOT drunk" whereupn he grabbed his own foot, stood on one leg and recited the alphabet backwards and gave a monologue to the cop about him not being as drunk as the cop thought, all for a good couple of minutes. Did the guy wobble?...Naw,  Cop was too flustered to do a field BAC test and let him go after a check on outstanding warrants came up clean.  There you have it.

I used to drink like a horse and then, later, a whale...Dude, even if think you truly were not physically impaired, keep it up and you will have one heck of a rotten liver.  You'll get Hep C, too, probably.  Take it from me. It sucks. Your bones will rot and your appetite will go to hell...liver cancer is in the mix.  Be advised, I know, There and done that,

See a doc...tell him you got a drinking problem.

Or tell us you made this all up because in Washington State, if you had a BAC a few points higher than 0,08, the cop will arrest you based on the BAC alone and not let you go even if you can show you are not impaired.  The high BAC is prima facie proof you broke the law, not your physical ability to stand and pirouette.  I have a hard time believing you because I know Washington has one of the strictest DUI laws in the US.

.

To answer the original question in this thread, I can get a little buzz after a couple drinks, but haven't been able to get drunk/wasted in a long while.  Anything past two or three drinks simply makes the buzz go away and all I feel is sick the next day.  I guess that's why I don't drink too often.  In my military days though, well that's a different story.

Even though it's been discussed a bit already, drinking and driving isn't ever a good idea, no matter how strong one considers their constitution to be.  It's just not worth the risk (higher probability of accidents, DUIs, etc.).  Where I currently live, a first offense generally leads to a fine of about $50,000 USD -even a sip of beer is enough to get busted.

Umm... I stated it once. Corona Extra and Corralejo was the tequila I was drinking. I'll try to make a video although I have never edited a video or even have a camera, much less a digital one. I'm sure I can borrow a friends and when I do I'll make sure you guys are the first to know. As for the Washington state laws yes they are very strict but I'm in a small-ish town where people here are less strict. Maybe it's in my genes I mean my dad was a huge drunk, my older brother is the only one who can out drink me and he is 6 yrs older than me. I will admit if I don't eat before drinking I will get drunk and admit it because I am drunk and in those instances I don't drive because I will admit to being drunk. And people including myself can see it right away.

I don't think we should really be encouraging people to do dangerous things on this forum, so I'm closing this one up.
